Done and Done

Over 1100 miles, 2 countries, 7 states (Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana), 1 ferry, 1 Amish town and 3 wheels. And what fun it has been.

Next stop, home.

Famous Visit Shipshewana

Who knew there were so many famous visitors who have played concerts at the Blue Gate Theatre. I’m sure Val Doonican would have also visited along with Englebert. Val would not have needed to bring his rocking chair – plenty of easy risers there already!

Ps Hels Bels, these are old bands so we forgive you if you’ve never heard of em

Wot No Sarsaparilla

This is sure one thirsty cowboy after a 180 mile ride on his steel horse, n’all he wants is a nice cooling glass of the devils fire c’eptin the fact the lil lady done booked em both into a hotel in a dry county!

Dag Nabit, gonna shoot me sumpin!

Shipshewana

Now this is an odd place…..

It’s in the middle of nowhere in Indiana and home to a community of Amish. Our sat nav brought us on a rather interesting tour through their back yards.

So Shipshewana caters to a certain age group we think(SAGA anyone)! It’s FULL of kitsch craft stores, antiques (translate to meaning other people’s junk), crap bric-a-brac and the obligatory buggy tours in an Amish carriage or two. The place is plain weird and would not be amiss on an episode of the X Files or Louis Theroux

That said, super buffet at the only real restaurant in town at $16 a head and all you can eat Amish food that’s a bargain). And some super cool views of a very different way of life without cars.

Anyhoo, stuff the buggy, I got a hot chauffeur.

Milan

Last night we stayed between Sandusky and Milan (pronounced Meal-on apparently, so not to be confused with a placed in Europe). It’s claim to fame in Milan is that it was the birthplace and childhood home of Thomas Edison.

Next stop is 188 miles away in Shipshewana (did you get the clue??)

Cleveland Ohio

Interesting fact, it is the world HQ for
