5 From 9

image862807831.jpgSo here we are almost at the end of 2009 and the start of a new decade 2010. Mrs Foggy and I have celebrated 5 years of marriage this month and 9 years together.

It has been fantastic so far, we have bought a house together, built one, lived in 2 caravans, travelled the world together, lived in deepest darkest Wales and rented 3 houses. I can say that Mrs Fogg is my soul mate and the most amazing woman I have ever met.

Here’s to another 5 years of marriage.

A Sledge Ride for One

image2115935124.jpgSo Mrs Foggy and I met up with the Bartys at Xscape in Milton Keynes to have a go at sledging, so all wrapped up and sweating buckets we stepped out into -5 degrees with a plastic board the size of an A4 sheet of paper to ride on. You gotta hike up 150ft in snow which is so tiring, then sit on your A4 sheet and hope for the best. It was so cool, and poor little Hazel somehow managed to get snow down her neck, hee hee.

Back to the Bartys for a curry and Trivial Pursuit, which Hazel won and Bel and I lost terribly at (Bel it was a Gargoyle).

Have a wonderful Christmas and a fantastic New Year and we hope to see you over to us soon.

Santa’s Gonna arrive here.

Ho Ho Ho it’s a Foggy Chrimble

image1358970323.jpgYes it’s C H R I S T M A S and to celebrate some rotund Coca Cola advertisement flying through the air with only a few slats of wood and Reindeer Poop to keep you afloat, the Foggy’s have their decorations up.

No seriously it’s CHRISTMAS and we Love it. Two trees, 440 twinkle lights, 200 baubles, 6 flashing balls, 20 garlands of tinsel, 2 climbing santas, 1 glowing snowman and one 3ft Santa. Yee Haa we loves it.

Merry Christmas everybody

Lord of the lounge

image180113581.jpgMr Spike got an early Christmas present today. Because he has felt so poorly recently we thought we’d treat him to a new cat bed. We couldn’t resist the penthouse suite! Within 10 minutes of it being in the lounge Mr Spike had moved in to survey the room from his new lofty position. Happy as a pig in mud he is!

We’d better not let on that we have another Christmas treat for him else it’ll go to his head.

Animals eh, they make us spoil them rotten.

Counting down to Christmas, 34 days to go

Whoo Hoooooo

image1798283660.jpgSo it’s all Hallows Eve and time to celebrate the mother in-laws birthday.

Mrs Foggy spent the evening gutting this little bad boy in preparation for the kiddies after their sweets.

And of course since we live opposite a cemetry we need to ward off the evil spirits and just in case the mother in-law decides to fly in for a visit

Me Am Tired

image1642984562.jpgSo here is I managed to stay upright on ZED after a blowout on a roundabout.

RAC are being very helpful calling me every 20 mins to let me know that an engineer is not with me, guess I didn’t know that. So one hour and counting and the next estimate is another 45 mins.

Ah the joys of biking

I got a flat here.

Santorini Bye Bye

image1704946926.jpgWell our last night in Oia with a most spectacular sunset from our private cave at the Marizan Studios.

This has been a beautiful week with excellent company (me of course) and a nice unwind. It has been a lovely rest, a chance to recharge the batteries after some long weeks at work, and a chance to be very selfish and spend 24/7 with each other uninterrupted save for the odd waiter, sunset and next beer order!

Would we come back a third time? Probably not now. For 2 reasons, the over commercialisation of the place catering heavily to the US and also for the same sort if money we have spent here we could do three fun weeks travelling the States, or do 10 days in the Carribean, so on next to planning the next trip in 2010 suggestions on a postcard please.

Pretty soon we will be leaving Oia.

The Judy’s on Tour

image1275057480.jpgToday was our last full day in Oia and we had the pleasure of watching the Judy’s on tour. The picture only shows the back of Judy number one’s head but oh my what a show they put on. It would appear that Judy one is waiting for her man to turn up, that she picked up on the tour. Judy two advised her to call her no good man for eating in to her time!

Dripping in garish, large. oppulant jewelry (purchase from the US version of Accessorise), with high perfectly quaffed hair, yes your A-typical Americans on tour. Discussing the joys of manicures, waving their hands feverishly over their food and shouting shoo at the flies (that’s gonna work), ordering a “cake thing” if you have them here! Judy two finishing her cake thing, puts on the lippy and asks Judy one “is my lipstick straight, do I have bits in my teeth”. No love you look perfectly plastic

Latest conversation is what piece of ivory necklace madonna happens to be wearing and how hard actors must have it. These chicks must be from La-La Land. These are the future leaders of America or basically the future Moms in their new trailer parks?

According to Mrs Fogg, I am quite rude (well yes I am), but these ain’t your typical Americans, these are your vapid, one brain celled things that are the future of our overall society. Like I really care.

Kamari via Perissa

image2044283092.jpgSo after nearly poisoning Mr Fogg at Dimitri’s off we went to Kamari to buy icecream and people watch on the sea front.

As you can see from the pic, Mr Fogg appears to have recovered well but is looking forward to a chilled beer when we get back to Oia later!

Kamari has changed, as has much of Santorini since we were last here. Far more touristy now but unfortunately as with many tourist draws it also brings dodgy restaurants and tacky bars. It remains a beautiful island but one that expects you to pay a high price for good food, average drinks and pleasant surroundings.

It is certainly a romantic place to sip drinks and watch the sunsets, browse overpriced trinkets and people watch as the evening develops but there is very little else to entertain unless you want to spend some serious money.

If you like spending quality time together in a very relaxed location with tremendous scenery in Oia or Fira then this is the place to be. Just bring the credit card and expect to pay for it!

Only 7 Years Ago

image2024316376.jpgtWas 7 years ago that we visited Santorini and stopped in the little place of Perissa, that at the time was quaint and cheap. Cut forward to present day and Perissa is a lot like any British seaside town offering “Full Inglis Brakefast” at £12 each. Ouch

Yup things sure have changed here, you can find the occasional gem, but be prepared to pay regardless, even in the Locals places. After the influx of the Americans, Greece has realised there is a killing to be made.

We hired a Peugeot 107 today (the Mrs decided a Quad bike was a little too risky), they even supply automatics to make sure our cousins can drive. Took a drive to Perissa and Kamari where there is an acient city of Thira which is up about 600 feet of about 40 switch backs on cobbled road.

The picture is from Thira looking down to Perissa (we walked up that 7 years ago, oh my). If you look at the map below you can see the twisty turny road from Kamari up the hill.

So now a chill then an amble back to Oia for a nice evening meal. Oh we did stop at Dimitris Tavern in Vlychada and can definitely recommend you avoid at all costs, yuck!

Two more days then back to cold wet England.

See you all soon.

We chilled Oia.
