Today is our second day here in Singapore and what an elegant city. Smartly dressed women, clean sidewalks, gorgeous shopping malls, it’s fun to explore.

The weather has been kind so far – we have had hot days, balmy nights and a mix of strong sun and clouds. Our ride on the Singapore Flyer today was lovely, we managed to get a car with just an Australian lady in. Just as we got off they closed the ride as a storm blew in. No worries for us though, we did our favourite pastime of eating and scoffed dim sum until the storm cleared.

As Mr Fogg has already said, we’ve seen quite a bit so far- Orchard Road, ordered suits, Civic District, Marina Sands Bay hotel for drinks, a walk beside the river and of course Raffles Long Bar to throw peanut shells on the floor and take out a small mortgage to buy not one but 4 Singapore Slings – ahem Mr Fogg!!

So tomorrow we hope to take the MRT (posh tube to you and me), a cable car and a 750 metre zipwire suspended 75 metres above the ground and travelling at 50kph ( goes faster if you are heavier Mr Fogg tee hee!)

Then it might just have to be a night view of Singapore from the Singapore Flyer again.

So much to see, such sore feet and so little time….now what else is in these guidebooks that I can add to the list..

Yippee! Work is over and we are on our way south to the airport. Just think that in another 48 hours we will be in Singapore in 32 degree heat sipping Singapore slings in some tropical bar! Bliss, Mr Fogg has already gone delirious at the thought. He will be pleased to know that in my capacity as travel tour geek I have failed this time to plan our days…it’s been a long hard slog this year since Jan for both of us, so roll on the relaxation and gentle tourist ambles.

I am not quite so keen on the long flight though. I wonder if they serve cocktails in the air?

Next stop Heathrow

It’s Spring clean time in the Foggies household and as ever it prompts lots of irritation and unanswered questions.

How do two people who work 12 hour days Monday to Friday create quite so much muck when actually at home? How can one small cat generate sufficient loose fur to actually be able to spread it across every possible surface? Why oh why did we think four bathrooms in a house was a great idea? And why do we manage to dirty three of them? Exactly how did someone market wood flooring as clean and hygienic?? Oh, and since when did cleaning become a healthy pastime (according to news articles in Jan of this year it’s better than a trip to the gym)

So Mr Fogg and I are shattered and we’ve only done the upstairs areas so far…methinks we will do downstairs next week. I can feel a snooze coming on

This weekend saw my second visit to a Yoga retreat in deepest Wales. Meeting up with my Yoga teacher and fellow classmates it was great to zone out, stretch out and meditate in beautiful surroundings. The food was amazing, who knew you could make vegetables taste so good on their own, although vegetarian chilli on the first night was maybe a dodgy choice when it came to practice the next morning (who made that noise at the back of class??).

I came back on a high, all peaceful and resolved to returning to regular yoga practice to keep my limbs supple and my mind energised. Mind you, I still cannot touch my toes!! Yet!!

Anyone want a cat in a box? So, I opened my family research box to have a read through the data collected so far and 30 seconds later he took up residence squeezing into this small space.

Like Victor Meldrew, I don’t believe it!! Mr Fogg and I had flu before Christmas but struggled on with work and we managed to recover over Christmas.

So, two weeks after Christmas (how time flies) I started with a slight itch on my back when I returned to work on Wednesday. By Friday I had a teeny teeny rash that looked more like a mosquito had lunched on me! By Sunday night I felt shattered and the itch was still there.

A trip to the doctors this morning revealed I have Shingles. Great, thanks for that.

I can now look forward to the next few weeks of rashes, pain and feeling shattered, still, the parting comment from my doctor was a classic as she prescribed a stack of tablets “Just think, 2011 can only get better now!” What a comedian.

I is officially contaminated until further notice….

Today I cooked my first ever Korma. We had left over turkey to use and I found a recipe on the British Turkey website for a Korma dish.

Ok, so it might not look so good as leftover but I’m really pleased with the outcome. Mild with a kick is the best description.

Might just have to try that again…

Mr Fogg has just stuffed the turkey and is about to pop it in the oven. I’m sure it should be bigger though……

A 10lb turkey, roast potatoes, sprouts, chipolatas, carrots, stuffing and gravy, can’t wait. We’ll both be asleep later after that little lot.

Happy Christmas All!!

I don’t know, you plan for a group if friends to come for the weekend and neatly order a tonne of logs to coincide with the visit (just on the off chance that additional help is offered..tee hee) and what happens? Everyone cancels!

Doh! Two hours later and Mr Fogg and I have stacked, sorted and shovelled the whole lot into the log store, fireplace and front porch. Shattered now.

Still, one more job sorted for Christmas. Next it’s tree time! Yippee
