Can’t wait, did no one warn them I have a habit of getting up at 4am on Christmas morning, hee hee.
WaiNui is now in the planning and execution phase. Being the picky buggas we are, we have insisted on rewriting the contracts (only 4 pages of changes this time). So contract signing this week and snagging carried out (more importantly for all you JubblyBubbly attendees we have changed the Hot Tub to a super king size, 8 man tub, whoo rarr, and Mr CaddyFrog leave the flippers at home this time).
Up this morning at the crack of dawn (hi dawn), and a quick clear out of our rubbish to the local household refuse site in the pouring rain.
Next stop breaking down those bloody wardrobes for the 4th time, gadzooks.
So any of you that have our address written in pen, you are really silly aren’t you!!
Fate has played its card on this one, as alluded to in our previous blog.
So, there we were in New Zealand having a fab time and of course on return to the UK we were once again unsettled and suffering withdrawals from travelling. We would like to consider a move to NZ but that’s a big step with lots of processes to follow not to mention job hunting and all that. So perhaps not on the cards yet. So, we thought we’d have a change of scenery instead.
I had a brief look on the housing market and spotted a pretty looking house fairly close to where we are and opted to arrange a viewing- to consider buying or renting. We had a walk round and liked what we saw.
Now this is the spooky bit. We did not know that this house has a name: Wai Nui. Unbelievably this means big water in Maori!!!
All the last 3 rentals have also all been house names not numbers and don’t be too shocked – we are only renting for now 🙂
With odds like that we had to go for it. We have yet to ask the owner how the name came about.
House warming party to now be planned.

Apparently while escorting a bunch of tourists (we won’t share their US nationality, but you can take a guess) one asked what the round plastic balls were for in the fields. “Ah” says the guide “Those are a great invention, they’re beanbags for cows. The cows come along at night and flop into them to get a good nights sleep and when finished of course they can then munch on the beds, what a cool idea”.
“Oh wow!” says the tourist “I must tell the guys back home about them, we don’t have them and they would be so good!”.
It’s the little things that remind you of all the good times.
Tourists eh?
On an udder note (sorry) whilst the weather has been close to Friesan and we need to wear Jerseys (oh stop it now), we hope to share some news related to “big water” very soon. Fingers crossed.
Time to enjoy the rest of the day before that work called thing comes around again.
Scary cat!

Next stop Insurance claims, car out of action for weeks and hassle with insurance payments.
Oh well, the week has to get better, hopefully (guess that’s one way to get more time off).
Tomorrow is the dreaded return to work and the start of a year without holidays, now ok we know we are a very spoilt pair who can usually manage loads of holidays and that it’s far more normal to just have the one break, but you have to factor in that we are just a little nuts too.
Mr Fogg is already depressed and has donned his new t shirt designed especially for him and I’ve donned a woolly hat and refuse to remove it.
Cases are still packed, laundry all yet to do but at least Mr Spike is deliriously happy. Has not stopped purring loudly since we picked him up yesterday. He too is cold having spent a month lounging under his very own heat lamp so last night was a fight for the duvet. The cat won.
Just to excite you all we have counted up and have taken 2500 pictures plus a load more on the video camera and hours of footage. Mr and Mrs Lucky have already foolishly said they would love to see them all. We estimate that will mean spending at least a couple of months staying in Tyddyn to get through them all ( tee hee).
So we are now waiting for Spring with bated breath and looking forward to Christmas Day in March with the Finks. We plan to get all festive!!!
The goal for the next few weeks is to ensure we have stuff planned in for weekends to look forward too. Suggestions on a postcard please…first goal is to rewatch ALL the LOTR films to see the scenery again. We started last night, only another two and a half films to get through- extended versions too so hours and hours and hours.

NZ rocks, as you can tell we are so glad to be back in the UK where the big bright warm ball in the sky is but a thing of fairy tales.
Oh well Mrs Fogg, better plan another trip fast!
Back to the UK here. After a wobbly start; delayed in Christchurch for 40 minutes, rushed to Auckland and left in a passport control queue for an age with just 3 controllers and the gate closing for the LA flight, we eventually touched down at LA 11.12am NZ time (Sat 18 Feb), 2.12pm LA time (Fri 17 Feb), some 21 hours before we set off (gotta love time travelling).
So we will be back onboard the plane at 4pm LA time heading back to the COLD.
Have we missed the snow?
Taking my hat off to Mrs Fogg for planning and arranging a superb last 4 weeks 6231 miles from here.
