Oh What a Night

image
Well it didn’t rain and stayed remarkably warm considering. Sophie Ellis Catflap sang her one song, well warbled it really and the main act came on at 9pm with all the old hits that even Mrs Foggy was able to chirp along to.

A fantastic evening finished off with a bottle of Bolly under the stars (we had to wait for that until we got back since the show should have been called the NO festival, no brollies, no cans, no bottles, no tents, no enjoying yourself).

On the look out for more shows at Dalby Forrest now.

OOO Sometimes

Bet the locals aren't happy with the sign

Bet the locals aren’t happy with the sign

Well here we are on my birthday weekend treat from Mrs Fogg (yes I know that was 6 months ago), off to see Erasure in concert at Dalby Forrest. Mrs Fogg has booked us into a lovely little B&B where the nearest town is Pickering.

We went to the local village Newton, where some young scamp has changed the sign, much to the dismay of the residents.

Tonight we are gonna harp back to our youth (well I never got out of mine) and watch the Erasure boys camp it up on stage (I went to see them many years ago at Wembly with the Finks and remember me and Mr Fink were gonna go to the gents until we watched guys going in holding hands, we changed our mind at that point).

The question is do we go to see the warm up act or not, Sophie Ellis Catflap with her one song, Blood on the Dance Floor (its gonna be a short set)?

Royston Vasey is somewhere near here.

Mama Mia!

Today was my first ever attempt at meatballs. Yummy, I followed a BBC website recipe and it came out perfectly!

It’s rare I cook nowadays but I do try occasionally to give Mr Fogg a break.

After a long week it has been a nice evening just chilling.

The Future of Plane Travel

image
Wonderful to hear some “Head of” at Boeing stating what the future of aviation is likely to hold over the next 40 years, let’s see:

– Touch the side of the plane and you will automatically be whisked to your seat
– No more first, premium or cattle class
– play golf onboard
– so many new breakthroughs that it will be like being in your own home whilst travelling

It’s just so easy to come out with a string of silly ideas that no one can challenge, the same as a concept car which never sees production.

Well I am obviously in the wrong job, maybe I should come up with a mish mash of silly ideas and publish them too. Blue Sky thinking, it’s the future.

Oh and the picture of Stockton has nothing to do with flying, but I didn’t have a picture of a plane.

Topiary Night

image
A fantastic weekend with the Caddies over for a BBQ, with the weather being spot on all week, well until the Caddies brought the crappy wind and clouds with them that is.

A fun day of drinking Desperado Tequila beer, chat, laugh joke, eat and have fun.

One of the evening highlights would be Mrs Caddy offering to trim Mrs Fogg’s bush whilst Mr Caddy and Mr Fogg watched.

And today we all tootled up to Alerthorpe Lakeside Park for brekky, during a marathon only to find no brekky available, so Balloon tree it was followed by a chill ou afternoon.

No fear Mrs Caddy stopped trimming Mrs Foggys bush before leaving it too bald. Oh and I just finished the smashing home made Banofi Pie, yum yum

Natural World

image
It’s 10pm and the weather is glorious. Sitting in the garden in York it is a gentle reminder of Wales and how close to nature you can get, and how far away from it you can become.

At 10pm I can hear the rustle of the wind through the Poplar trees, birds who have returned to their nests to settle for the night chirp a last chorus to the descending night. Pipistrel bats swoop and glide effortlessly across the evening sky, owls hoot in the distance echoing through the sky and in the garden leaves twitch as if some other creatures are stirring into life in the undergrowth.

This is nature. Not computer screens and bland office spaces filled with politics and egos, but the natural order, wind, life, air.

As the night sky descends further and darkness creeps in I can hear cows in the far field sharing their last conversations, a distant plane carrying people off to distant shores or back again and again, the wind ruffling the trees and causing them to sway gently.

This is why we choose to live in the countryside, this connection with living things, all too often forgotten during the daily grind, all too often missed during the 9 to 5 back and from work. And yet, one quiet sit on a bench in the garden, one peaceful moment to listen to the birds and it all comes to you.

Beautiful nature.

Good night
