Breakfast in America

There is a song in here somewhere, take a jumbo across the water (unless it’s with BA of course).

So our final breakfast together in the US, Mrs Fogg and Kevin head off to the airport in a few hours and I weave my way from Nevada into Needles California on the last few days to get to Santa Monica and the completion of the Route66.

And a view of Vegas from the Stratosphere last night

Whilst Kevin tries the latest US Designer wear Elf Ears Clothes Hangers

Sitting on top of the World

The last night in Vegas, time to enjoy a meal with good company in the Top of the World restaurant in the Stratosphere.

Here’s to my travelling posse, Mrs Fogg for all the planning and Kev for the entertainment value and keeping Mrs Fogg sane in the car.

And then Fremont Street, is an experience

What Happens in Vegas

This is and always will be a spectacular place, all sizes, all styles, drinking from, well 24/7. The midday heat topped around the mid 90s with wombling the order of the day. We (Kev and I) did the New York New York Rollercoaster and the next stop is to free fall from the Stratosphere before doing a Superman Zip-wire in Fremont Street

We even found Kevin’s own hotel Treasure Island

Oh Dam

And then the sight that is Vegas, with Kevin speechless at the spectacle

Williams Seligman and Kingman

A leisurely rise then a womble round Williams which is such a cool town

With The worlds largest Route66 sign and cowboy Kev

Then on to Seligman via Ash Springs

And into Seligman for food at the SnowCap and a chance to buy stuff a Angel’s (we had the chance to meet him in 2013). Now this is a happy meal

Refuelled and onwards to Kingman on Route 66

And a brief stop at the Grand Canyon Caverns, where you can spend the night for the princely sum of 850USD for 2 people!

So tonight is Pizza and chilling before tomorrow’s haul into Vegas via the Hoover Dam and my support posse heading off home (well on Sunday)

Awesome Days

Up at 5am and a hike into the Canyon has left the youngest member of the Route66 crew exhausted. Kevin slept in the car from the Canyon to Williams. Tonight we are at the awesome Best Western Plus at Williams complete with pool, jacuzzi a raging fire pit, amazing restaurant and live music. This has helped to relax us after the 3 mile hike down 2,000ft (and back up of course)

Mrs Fogg talks to the Alien plant life in the Canyon

The Fogg’s and Kevin enjoy a light snack at the 3 mile marker

We hiked that

Enjoying the fire pit

Oh and one of Mr Fogg riding the Harley Road King through Winslow

Arizona here we come

Today was a 234 mile drive to Holbrook, passing through some small towns in New Mexico and on the I40 following the line of Route 66.

Our stay at the Sandia Peak Motel last night was comfortable but the area itself not good.

On then past lava fields

And The Continental Divide

Stopping then for a quick break at a gas station and this funky sign

Since we were passing we called in via the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest.  Simply beautiful scenery and a lovely drive

Arresting Sight in New Mexico

A photo stopportunity today on the route from Albuquerque to Holbrook as Mrs Fogg and Kevin get pulled by the fuzz
