Well it has been a strange old year and very quiet, but my how this year has flown. With only one day to go until the fatman arrives, the best thing ever is SNOW. Oh yes it’s snowing and we are happy.
So we wish you all a very Merry Christmas 2020 and a Happy New Year 2021.
Today Mrs Fogg and I fitted the gym mirror (1.48m x 1.3m weighting 28kg). We built a made to measure frame to support the beastie. A good team effort that finishes the Fogg’s Body Shop off nicely.
It’s autumn and the leaves are falling, even after we chopped half the trees down. For the last 2 years it’s taken days to rake them all up, so this year I decided to go semi hi tech and buy a lawn sweeper to pull along behind the tractor. Mrs Fogg decided since it’s an attachment for her ride on mower that she would sweep them all up. Yet another toy I don’t get to play with.
So Project Gym is well and truly underway now. I’ve finished my latest role and move into a new one in 2 weeks, so that is the challenge timeline to get “Fogg’s BodyShop” ready for its first customer.
Mrs Fogg showed off her DDIY skills (Don’t Do It Yourself), by cutting all the 18 sheets of insulation to size. Next stop 192, 3m tongue and groove cladding boards cut to shape and secured with 2,200 screws
Well the last trek from Glen Nevis over to Balmaha for the final night in Mabel the Moho on the edge of another Loch. And today we dropped Mabel back home before heading onto Sanquhar for a night of luxury before home tomorrow.
All told a wonderful journey around Scotland and now the tally:
919 miles total, £211.52 in diesel
500 miles on the NC500
Stopped at 12 campsites
1 lost wheel and axle from the “pooper cassette” in the chemical waste
12kg of calor gas on cooking
Most northerly point Duncansby Head
4th, 5th and 6th gear used twice for about a mile
Sunshine, once when we picked the camper up and second time when we dropped it off
Boo! Heading back south now and a short trip from Loch Ness down past Fort Augustus to Glen Nevis (the other side of Ben Nevis). It’s turning very autumnal now and the chill is definitely in the air
Still, managed to stop at Oich bridge, rebuilt in 1849 after the first one got washed away. Plus we also stopped at the macabre Well of the Seven Heads. An interesting little revenge story worth a google.
On then to Glen Nevis and one of the largest campsites we have been to (yuk). It’s full of families, kids dogs etc. The views of Ben Nevis are worth a brief overnight but we prefer the smaller family owned sites and you can definitely tell that people here don’t care about the facilities. We were given a pitch with a view of the chemical toilet initially but one call sorted that and at least we are now in a quiet corner.
It’s a really busy site. Looks like everyone came on holiday!!
