Route66

Viva Bubba Vegas

Life is like a box of frogs!!!

Ah when in Vegas find another Bubba, a suitable way to finish the trip in the same eating style as we started in Chicago. so now we’ve been to a Bubba’s in Hong Kong, Tokyo (Potato Face, eh Jenny), Orlando, Chicago and Vegas. Just gotta find a few more, especially with the tasty CoronaRita beverage.

To round off the evening and trip we went to see the Criss Angel “Believe” magic show, which unfortunately was pants, no shocks, just the guy disappearing under the stage from a cape and reappearing elsewhere (come back Paul Daniels all is forgiven).

After a meander back to the Wyn, we’re all packed and ready to fly home.

Only in Vegas

20130605-141008.jpg Brilliant. A sign just for Mr Fogg.

Even better, just spotted the Cheesecake Factory. If you’ve never heard of this place imagine a heaven built out of all the different flavour cheesecakes.

Must dash- got a cheesecake to go devour

You Know When You’re a Wyn’er

To paraphrase our US Cousins, Oh My God! For £90 a night (through Hotels.com and £30 to come back through Quidco) this is the Wyn Hotel and it is magnificent. After arriving at 5pm in blistering 111F, the air conditioned room was a blessed respite.

Valet parking, everything you want/need and an amazing view oh just look at that bathroom.

And to make you feel like you are here a couple of wee videos

H O T !!!!

IT’S HOT – DAM HOT!!!!!

A nice start in Kingman, head shave at Walmart, where, where Mrs Fogg waited expectantly to get an electric buggy only to find that all that the batteries were flat, so we got a wheelchair to push her.

And here I am on the Hoover Dam between Arizona and Nevada while the Mrs had to wait in the car because it was too far to hobble.

Yes te temp gauge is right it was 102F at the dam and is now currently 106F while we snack in Boulder city.

Bright Light City

Viva Las Vegas, here we come.

By midnight UK time we will have hit the big bright lights of Vegas and our last couple of days.

Route 66 is amazing in places and as we have found non-existent in others. There was a different feel when riding it on a bike (yes wet for the first 2 days), but when it was dry it was fantastic.

Just some of what have we seen:

– The Gemini Giant
– The Worlds largest Rocking Chair
– Midpoint on 66
– Henry’s Rabbit Ranch
– Lincoln’s House
– Springfield (two of them), Double Doh
– Cadillac Ranch
– Angel’s in Seligman
– Standin on the Corner
– Amarillo (no-one knew the way)
– Tulsa (took 3 days)
– The Grand Canyon
– The Sears Tower
– The Start of 66 in Chicago
– The Phone booth on Wabash & Lake
– The Hoover Dam
– Time travelled twice
– Miami Hospital and Sheriff Woody
– Countless forgotten towns on 66

Have we hit a minor hiccup, hell yes but with some rapid replanning and a fantastic performance from Mrs Incredible Hulk foot we have still seen most of what was originally planned.

Biker Dude

20130603-222424.jpg

Finally the conversion from Mr Fogg to Mr Hogg is complete. As you can see, my biker dude acquired his very own “bad ass” waistcoat. Next will it be a ZZ Top style beard?

I look forward to the day he returns to complete Route 66 on a Fat Boy Harley.

Snow Cone Angels and Kingmen

We pootled through Williams one last time, then up to Seligman where we met Angel and his brother (featured on Billy’s tour of 66), also stopped at the famous Snow Cone restaurant where a sense of humour is needed.

We then drove the 81 mile straight road up to Kingman through Peach Springs along a wonderful stretch of the 66.

Williams

A quick stop at Williams on the way from the GC, and a chance stop at the worlds largest Route66 sign

Next stop Seligman and then Kingman.

Welcome to Williams from here.

Last legs – No Pun

I love the canyon, it’s somewhere I could sit all day long and just watch the world turn. As you can see the Mrs is pretty chilled out on her happy smarties.

Ever onward now as we make our way toward Vegas. One more night before Sin City and the fun of boarding the plane.
