Spinalonga

Nope, it’s not my poor attempt at Spanglish or a game. This is the name of an island off the coast of Crete that was first a Venetians fort and then a leper’s colony from early 1900s right up to 1950 something.

We took a 4 hrs trip here on a boat, with a 1hr walking tour of the island. Very beautiful and very hot!

The guide we had was brilliant. She was feisty and said exactly what she thought – telling two arguing Greek women off, telling a mum off for moaning her voice would wake the baby and then gripes about the Greek government not investing in the history of the leper’s but letting some woman archaeologist dig up some old ruins. Great day!!

3 Monkeys and 4 Sages

Welcome from Crete and the three wise minkeys

And 4 average sages

Sun, sea, fun and oozo (well apart from Mrs Fogg who is still recovering) as Mrs Fogg scowls at Mr Fogg for apparently missing his mouth and plate

Fresh air

Managed to take a womble up the garden this morning to get some fresh air. As usual I have a Willow escort to look after me.

Looking forward to a restful day and recovery. Bit of a shock to be told yesterday I have a bacterial infection on my lungs and some fluid there along with a rattle. Rest and fresh air apparently – oh and rest the voice!

Twisted Fire Starter

We wanted a fire pit near the FoggCabin and low and behold we done it. Awesome has a new name.

Next stop is the outdoor cinema which arrives next week!

A Walk on the Wold side

Or, these boots were made for walking…..

So……Dad and I have decided to walk the Yorkshire Wolds Way. Yes, that’s right, an 80 mile footpath that runs from Hull to Filey. So we’re going to cut out the Hull bit and start from South Cave, but it’s still around 70 miles of walking up hill and down dale in the historic Wolds.

I’m just about prepared….bought some walking boots, replaced the rucksack for a day sack (45litres), picked up some waterproof trousers (well it is the UK) and a shiny new cap.

Accommodation all booked, schedule sorted – 11ish miles per day, with one day being 16 (ouch!)

I just now need to get into shape and break the boots in. Fancy a walk anyone??

Ok, so I’ve had to buy bigger trousers than my previous hike trousers and shorts, but hey I’m a few years older nowadays.

I’m not worried at all that at 74 Dad is about 30times fitter than me and a gentle stroll for him is a 7 mile ramble.

However I’m up for the challenge…..who knows, could be Hadrians Wall next.

Seaside ride

This weekend we took Mr Foggs Fat Boy Harley for a spin over to see the Folks in Scarborough.

What a lovely trip. Saturday afternoon in a garden centre buying loads of plants (nope we did not try to carry on the bike!). Then a BBQ and some falling down water. Cue a brief snooze….

This morning we strolled along the coastline on a beautiful sunny Sunday. The weekend was magical and really relaxing. Thanks Mum & Dad. Lovely visit!

And now we’ve cleaned up the Beast, it’s BBQ time

Magnificent Magnolia

Two weekends ago we bought a beautiful pink Magnolia shrub. I wanted to plant it right in the middle of the garden.

So today, after the gym (are we mad???), Mr Fogg helped me dig a large circular border (13 sqm) so I could plant out a new flower border (helped, really, more like did it all!!!).

The result is lovely. Some additional new shrubs, the blossoming Magnolia and a view of it from the Fogg Cabin.

What more could a girl want? Other than a rest and a large glass of wine. Oh and a BBQ.

And did I mention the fruit trees are happy?

To Infinity

Well what an awesome weekend with The CaddyFrogs, The Barty’s and Kevin at Zip World.

We’ve stopped at the awesome Glynwrog House in Betws-y-Coed, eaten at the funky Ty Gwyn Hotel, with awesome food and interesting waiting staff.

Yesterday was the Zip Wire, just under a mile from 222m high and flying at 70mph!

Followed by fun on the Fforest Coaster

And today sees us in “The Plummit” a 100 foot free fall drop.
