Is it Just Me

Or have we gone one step beyond bonkers?

Most Saturdays I go for piano lessons for an opportunity to try something new and believe me I will never, ever be a concert pianist!!!

So today on my way to my lessons I happened to stop at a supermarket to use the toilets. Inside the gents toilet which has only one door into a small toilet with no other exit, I happened upon the sign on the back of the toilet door

Now I might be missing something here but ina room with only one entrance door, which doubles as an exit door, should we really need to let people know how to exit the toilet? I started looking for signs to remind you to breathe in and breathe out!!!! but then that would be stoopid wouldn’t it

The Long Way Round

Our intrepid explorer Mrs Fogg who has signed to up walk the 3 Peaks 24 miles in 12 hours for charity is all kitted up and ready. Today Mrs Fogg took herself complete with compass, map, whistle, camel-pack and everything she will be using, for a 8 mile hike across the Wolds.

The downside, at the end of her little womble, she found a cafe and downed 3 pieces of cake!!!

What a Difference

One week ago we were sat in glorious sunshine in Bali and today

And then occasionally as a grown up you get to try your luck on a kiddy slide (unless your bottom has a little too much surface area). Live in action, Mrs Fogg, just click play.

Last Day in Paradise

A wonderful break in Singapore and then a fantastic week just chilling at the Viceroy Bali

Last night we had our final meal at the Aperitif restaurant (7 course tasting menu with Wagyu steak, Duck and accompanying wine).

A gentle stroll back to our villa

To be greeted by a romantically prepared bath in the room

And today we head off to the airport (2.5 hours away), then fly to Singapore (2.5 hours) and then onto the UK (14 hours).

This place is amazing, friendly staff, wonderful food, fully equipped gym and amazing views

And the final bill, yes that is right 40million!!!!

Warung dining

Last night was our first meal out in Ubud. So far we’ve spoilt ourselves with dining in the hotel in its fabulous restaurants. So off we went to Ubud to find a place to eat.

Our driver who shuttled us down to the town suggested a small traditional warung called Sun Sun. A warung is a small family run eatery, often hosted in their own home. It will serve traditional Indonesian food and they are often very cheap. So off we went to find it.

The first we see is this ornate doorway that looks like the entrance to a temple.

The only giveaway that it’s a restaurant is the large board on the street.

Oh what a joy to enter. This is very traditional comprising of different raised covered areas that would traditionally been the living areas of the family. Now it’s setup as a restaurant. Plenty of food choices too

We went very traditional (apart from the wine and beer) with a set menu! Delicious!!

Sadly one of us has a delicate tummy so one whiff of different and hey presto this morning I had to reach for…..

Still…..so worth it!!! Food and place was wonderful. We might just have to go again tonight. Did we mention the total cost was circa £14 for it all??

And given the delicate nature of Mrs Fogg, might be staying very close to the loo

The Viceroy

A 2 hour drive through the worlds craziest drivers is one of the most idyllic, serene and beautiful hotels we have had the pleasure to stay in, the Viceroy Ubud.

We managed 3 days here last year in room 26 and this time we are next door in room 25

This is awesome

7 days of relaxation with a beautiful and amazing woman.

Bali Again – Cinco de Mayo

Yes it’s Cinco de Mayo and we made it through the uber efficient Singapore Changi airport with its electronic passport, checkin, baggage, security and cleanliness (take note UK airports, this is what an airport should be like). Onto our SCOOT airline flight (think Jet2 but better)

To arrive in Bali complete with our luggage (even my three wheel case made it)

Thanks to flying with Singapore Airlines and not with Emirates through Dubai.

And now the journey to the Viceroy in Ubud where the drivers are maniacs (but polite).

So to Emirates we’d like to thank you for wasting our time, holiday and money last year, stranding us in Dubai without luggage, hotel, transport, assistance, compensation or interest in customer care. This one’s just for you

Bye Bye Singapore

It has been fun revisiting some of the sights from 2011 when we last came here. Do we need to visit again, maybe not for another 14 years.

The food has been awesome (finishing off this evening with Stone Axe Wagyu beef, simply melt in the mouth and Sanchoku Wagyu, with a beautiful taste). And yes food here is really expensive unless you go to the hawker stalls and queue for your food.

Next stop the Bali and let’s see how many wheels my case ends up with next.

While You Were Sleeping

While all you lot are happily in the land of nod, it is actually 12 o’clock somewhere (yeh Here)

And that means it’s Singapore Sling o’clock for Mrs Fogg and I. At a paltry SG$41 each plus tax plus tip

Enjoy your snoozing while we are enjoying the boozing here at Raffles.

And we didn’t even queue, we did the oblivious thingy and walked past everyone waiting to enter the long bar. Mrs Fogg did get some hoyty toyty ole fart stop her to advise there is a queueing system. Ha they got sat on uncomfortable bar stools and we got sat comfy chairs. It’s the little wins in life.

That’s them on the stools that is (and she ain’t appy)

Drunks, out!

Oh yeh and here you get bags of monkey nuts and lob your used shells on the floor, it’s like a standard night out in Wakefield or Durham! (Eh Di, Helen)

Here’s the long bar, now where’s wally (she’s there somewhere)?

Meanwhile 5 Slings later, where’s the food!
