Big Holes

One night at the Grand Canyon, watching the sunset with beer

And today a hike 3 miles down, setting off at 6am and getting back at 11am, all knackered

Arizona here we come

Today was a 234 mile drive to Holbrook, passing through some small towns in New Mexico and on the I40 following the line of Route 66.

Our stay at the Sandia Peak Motel last night was comfortable but the area itself not good.

On then past lava fields

And The Continental Divide

Stopping then for a quick break at a gas station and this funky sign

Since we were passing we called in via the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest.  Simply beautiful scenery and a lovely drive

Mud Huts and 10000ft

So with 2 geeks in tow I had no choice but to get dragged to an Indian thingy, which I am sure Mrs Fogg will explain all the history of this place situated next to the Rio Grand

Then on to Sandia Peak in Albuquerque at 10,000ft tall and 13 minutes by cable car the views are amazing

Complete with snow

Tonight a swim and time for a steak.

US 84 to Santa Fe

One hell of a beautiful road.  Well worth the drive out to Santa Fe.  Here are some awesome pics Kevin took today of our drive:

That’s Mr Fogg above, cruisin’ on his Harley

Plus some pretty roadside flowers

We’re famous!!

After our wonderful visit to Croc Lile at his studio in Amarillo where Croc transforms the paint flecks from Cadillac Ranch, Croc has posted about our visit on his Facebook site.

This is one gallery not to be missed as you pass through Amarillo!

Santa Fe

Well what a glorious day, started by seeing the Route66 Car Museum in Santa Rosa, with a fantastic selection of vehicle

With a demonstration on where we are along Toute 66

Next stop was Santa Fe going along the US84 which is a beautiful long road with some amazing gentle curves on it

It’s 7000ft above sea level and you can definitely feel the air is thinner making you a little tired and Kevin positively sleepy.

Tomorrow a short trip to Albuquerque via Madrid which was the setting for Wild Hogs (a silly movie but a beautiful town) and then Sandia Peak

The Wrong Way

Spotted last night in the local diner, one Kevin McShorty, setting the latest designer trend for all teenagers

Yup, how to go out on the town with your Harry Potter shorts inside out! Embarrassing for her, a hoot for us and the rest of the diners
