A nice day chilling by the freezing cold pool (so exhilarating it takes the best part of 15 minutes to work up to full submersion) watching the thunderstorm gently circle around us.
And in true style we just had to finish the day with charcoal cooked rump steak and a fine chianti.
Life is good.

Up early this am (10), after a terrible nights sleep with 2 legs full of Mozzie bites and no cream. Cue Dr Goggle and remedies you might have to hand, soap a partial winner, but still so much pain.
A lovely breakfast watching the olive groves, then off to Volterra for the day. Parking, not a problem if Mrs Fogg sees the signs for it(which she don’t), so a complete circuit of the town again .
Lunch, a womble and Mozzie cream please.
Or nearby, or just in Italy. The only requirement is a nice bottle of Chianti wine.
Washed down with a spot of lunch. Today we are exploring Volterra. A beautiful medieval town, more famous now for one scene in that film Twiglett where the shiny vampires appear.
What a beautiful location this is. Situated next to the owners villa and sited on the edge of a green vally, this could almost be the twin of our little cottage in Wales.
This first morning we sat having breakfast on the veranda watching the sun slowly creep across the valley floor. Melodic Italian farmers were yelling their sing song instructions to sheep dogs, some bird of prey yet to be identified soared and cried its shrill call. This is simple and lovely.
Even better – we actually have 3G!! Britain, see, you can deliver signals to rural locations!!
A lazy Sunday planned for now and a chance to test the pool.

Yes welcome to supermarket Saturday, Italian style. Here you are only an obstruction to everyone. The rules, there are no rules. Anyone left alive can leave.
Arrival at the airport at really silly o’clock after only 3.5 hrs kip. And what do you find, “sorry but the food area and shops don’t open until 4am”.
Joy, well one bonus of being so early, not a single person waiting at the security checkpoint.
Next stop, the leaning tower and no mobile or wifi access. For once it will be nice to disconnect from the world and just chill.
