I Want Mussels

Yes I know it sounds like the start to an Olivia Neutron Bomb song but on the way to Nelson we passed through Havelock, the mussel capital of the world. However you would like your mussels cooked they do it, smoked, baked with cheese on, garlic and herbs, chilli sauce, the list is endless.

Since we were in the mussel capital it would have been rude not to stop and try a few dozen.

The First Rule of the Palazzio

As we checked into the Palazzio Hotel in Nelson, it started to sound like a scene from a famous movie, the only rules you need to remember about Palazzio is……..

As we get told, no visitors after 9.30 (err who the hell do we know), out by 10am and don’t park in front of the garage. Forget hello or any of that good stuff, forget Fight Club, it’s the Palazzio Motor Hotel Club and the first rule is……

Beautiful rooms, naff all view but very grumpy bruiser of a woman in charge.

Graham’s Cousin??

Spotted in Nelson, South Island New Zealand. Could this be Graham the herons distant cousin twice removed??

We’ll never know, sadly it’s a Sunday and a Bank Holiday Weekend here so we could not go in and ask.

Mr Fogg wants to sack the tour guide for not spotting the Bank Holiday weekend when all is shut. Ah well, you pays for what you get Mr Fogg. Now, about that tip 🙂

Currently sitting in a teeny old chapel that has been converted into a wonderful little bar waiting to meet someone we’ve not seen since 2007. We worked with him when we were still youngsters and he was merely a baby faced youth. The lucky bastard managed to emigrate here in 2002. We plan to bribe him into employing us so we don’t have to come back to the UK!!
